Take A Landmark Bike Ride: Greenwich Village Public Art and Monuments

By October 15, 2020Uncategorized

In this second bike tour, we take a close look at some of the great public art and monuments of our neighborhood with an international flair — touting with connections to Italy, France, Japan, and the U.K. With stops at the Stonewall National Monument, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Father Demo Square, the Bust of Sylvette, and the Houston Bowery Mural Wall, which is currently showing a large piece by Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama (@TomokazuMatsuyama). Get the stories behind these dynamic places — some beloved, some often overlooked — and what they mean today. Includes interviews with Christopher Streets Tours Guide Michael Venturiello (www.christopherstreettours.com), Picasso’s muse Lydia “Sylvette” Corbett herself (www.iwassylvettre.com) and her sculptor daughter Isabel Coulton (www.isabelcoulton.com).
